Dolan Velvet

from 55.44

DOLAN is a highly fade resistant technical fibre, with good strength and abrasion resistance. The velvet-like surface is highly stain-resistant and the stretch characteristics provide for a snug fit, that won’t become baggy over time.

Available in a wide range of colours; we recommend Velvet covers as the best alternative to our Certified Sustainable FENDASKIN, for yachts that need colours that are not available in our Bioprene range

Rot-proof and machine washable, Velvet covers are guaranteed against fading for 7 Years, so they represent good value over their lifespan and are environmentally less damaging than short-lived traditional Acrylic covers.

Hypalon – We are often asked why we don’t use “Hypalon” for our fenders. The simple answer is that there hasn’t actually been a fabric called Hypalon available for many years, since the Trademark belongs to the DuPont company and they no longer produce it. However, there are similar products available, under the generic description of Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene, or CSM for short. There are a number of reasons why our fabrics are superior to CSM, from increased strength to reduced weight and, most importantly, the ability to high frequency weld our seams. The welded seams on a DEFENDA have a molecular bond, meaning that they are guaranteed not to leak, unlike old-school glued seams, which are the only option for CSM fenders. To understand more about why DuPont ceased production of Hypalon and why DEFENDA fabrics are superior to CSM, please take a look at our FAQ page here.
